The two Boxster E prototypes Porsche showed off at the Michelin Challenge Bibendum in Berlin last week have proved to be a real attraction to the public.
At this forum for sustainable mobility, which was staged for the eleventh time this year, representatives from politics, industry, trade and research discussed environmentally-friendly mobility and vehicle concepts of the future. The trips in the electric Boxsters were in particular demand amongst the expert audience. On a sporty circuit, the vehicles demonstrated that a Boxster with electric drive still remains a genuine Porsche in terms of driving dynamics. In the wake of the 911 GT3 R Hybrid, 918 Spyder and 918 RSR, the Boxster E is yet another sports car concept exhibiting the brand’s characteristic combination of research and driving pleasure.

Enough with the leaks and speculation. Here it is. The 2011 Porsche 911 GT3 RS 4.0. The ultimate naturally aspirated 911 and the 997′s motorsports-infused swan-song.

As the name would suggest, this latest limited-edition 911 packs a 4.0-liter flat-six derived from the 911 GT3 RSR racer, complete with forged pistons, titanium connecting rods and a crankshaft pulled directly from its track-bred descendent. The result is the most powerful NA 911 to date, with 500 horsepower peaking at 8,250 rpm and maximum torque – 339 pound-feet – coming in at 5,750 rpm.

Today is the day that Porsche confirms further details regarding the 918 Spyder super sports car with its innovative plug-in hybrid drive. Production development is proceeding apace in the wake of the outstanding customer response to the concept car unveiled at the Geneva Motor Show 2010. Thanks to its unique hybrid technology, the 918 Spyder is estimated to consume a mere three litres of fuel per 100 kilometres (94 mpg) based on the New European Driving Cycle (NEDC). Its V8 engine delivers more than 500 hp, assisted by two electric motors with a total of at least 160 kW (218 hp). The 918 Spyder is available to order priced from Euro 645,000 – subject to VAT and on-the-road charges.

To commemorate its one-millionth fan on Facebook, Porsche has built a unique custom-made 911 GT3 R Hybrid race car.

On display in the Porsche Museum in Stuttgart, the 480 horsepower 911 GT3 R Hybrid was chosen because it embodies the future of motorsport. However, as a way of saying thank you, Porsche covered the car with the names of more than 27,000 fans. Naturally, 1 million wouldn’t fit.
