Jeep considering re-entry into pickup segmentThe picture you see above is an image of the Jeep Gladiator Concept from 2005 – the last time we saw any hints of a pickup making a return to the brand’s lineup. The last time Jeep offered a pickup for sale to customers in North America was with the 1992 Jeep Comanche.

It seems like the idea of offering a pickup is still being played with inside the company. Speaking to PickupTrucks.com, Mike Manley, President and CEO of the Jeep Brand, said he is interested in the compact and midsize pickup truck market.

Jeep to begin building 2011 Grand Cherokee in MayArguably Chrysler’s biggest auto show introduction all of last year was the 2011 Grand Cherokee that debuted at the New York Auto Show. Now, the Auburn Hills, Michigan, automaker – which is now under Fiat ownership – says that it will begin production of the new luxury-level SUV on May 3.

Jeep hasn’t received a new model since the 2008 model year, when a redesigned Liberty debuted. The current Grand Cherokee dates to late 2004 when it debuted as a 2005.
