General Motors has already begun the wind down process of its Hummer brand, but the newly formed Capital & Labor International Coalition is attempting to save the off-road marque. CLIC has announced a “Save Hummer Motors in America Summit”, set to take place on April 11 in Chicago.

Much like the “Save Saab” initiative that aided in Spyker’s decision to buy the Swedish automaker, CLIC is hopeful the Summit will spur GM to sell the Hummer brand. It’s not clear, however, if the management firm has any interest in purchasing the marque itself.

March 12 — Lynch Hummer (http://www.lynchhummer.com/) is giving away a Browning Citori White Lightning Shotgun with every new Hummer purchased. Lynch Hummer, who first made headlines for “Guns and Hummers” when they added Adventure Shooting Sports (http://www.adventureshootingsports.com/) to their Hummer showroom, has teamed up with Browning to make this offer. The Browning Citori White Lightning is a premium over and under shotgun with a retail value of $2,000. “There is now real reason to believe that the current inventory on hand at dealers may be the last of the new Hummers, we wanted to send them off with something memorable,” says Hummer dealer Jim Lynch. “Browning and Hummer are prestigious brands and American Icons – bringing them together is a natural fit.”

Leave it to a German tuner to take something already gaudy by nature and make it even more garish and ugly. “Take your Hammer and drive it sexy”, says CFC in the press release on the pimped-out Hummer H2 (with a “u” and not an “a”). Too bad it doesn’t say ‘where’, but let’s not make this post more inappropriate than it already is.

After a lengthy visit at their warehouse, CFC’s tuning team went ahead and stuffed the Hummer H2 like a Thanksgiving turkey. Starting from the outside, the ‘chrome’ vinyl wrap is complemented by tinted windows, a carbon wrap for the bonnet and a set of uber-discreet ‘CFC’ stickers.

hummer-logo1.jpgFang Yan and Doug Young Fang Yan And Doug Young writing for Reuters reported that Tengzhong, the Chinese buyer of General Motor’s Hummer brand, aims to close the deal by early 2010, with regulatory approval looming as the first of what will likely be multiple hurdles on the road ahead.

Sichuan Tengzhong Heavy Industrial Machinery is not just seeking Beijing’s go ahead for a deal which runs counter to China’s energy efficiency drive but will also have to turn around GM’s struggling gas guzzling Hummer.

Sichuan Tengzhong Heavy Industrial Machinery Company has officially signed a definitive agreement to purchase the Hummer brand from General Motors. Hummer’s leadership team will remain in place and the company will be headquartered in Detroit.
