The shop behind the beautiful convertible Dodge Challenger that stole the spotlight at last year’s SEMA show is at it again. Drop Top Customs has announced that it will set about creating a topless version of the ever-sexy Cadillac CTS Coupe for this year’s aftermarket shindig. We’re not entirely sold on the thought of hacking the razor-sharp roof line from the coupe and replacing it with a folding soft top, but we’ll reserve judgment until after we see the final product in the flesh, er, sheetmetal.

Cadillac have known for over 2 years now that their new sports sedan, the CTS-V: the day the automobile went to Germany and completed a lap in under 8 minutes (7:59.32 to be exact), was a special day in the vehicle’s development.

Cadillac is going to bank on that achievement and is in the process of creating a new ad commemorating the event. Power and Associates Initial Quality Survey – managed to prepare ahead of schedule, and was eager to begin production.

The 4-year/50,000-mile program, which is called Cadillac Premium Care Maintenance, includes scheduled oil changes, tire rotation, engine and cabin air filters and a vehicle inspection. Last week, Lincoln launched a similar free maintenance program for 2010 and 2011 models.

The CTS-V Coupe is powered by the same supercharged 6.2L V8 that sits in the CTS-V sedan. The engine puts out 556-hp and a maximum torque of 551 lb-ft. Mated to either a Tremec TR6060 6-speed manual with a dual-disc clutch or a Hydra-Matic 6L90 6-speed automatic with paddle-shift control, the CTS-V Coupe can sprint from 0-60 mph in 3.9 seconds. Braking power comes from Brembo brakes, 6-piston calipers in the front and 4-piston calipers in the rear.
