Since its inception, Infiniti’s goal has been to establish a new concept of automotive luxury, where a personal and rewarding driving experience is more important than the car alone.These words, which encapsulate the vision behind Infiniti’s Inspired Performance, could have been written last year, last month or even today. Yet their origin is nearly 20 years ago, penned in reference to the new luxury performance brand that had first opened for business on November 8, 1989 with just 51 retailers and two models sharing the decidedly different looking showrooms.

Mr Carlos Ghosn, President and CEO, Nissan Motor Co. Ltd, announced at the 41st Tokyo Motor Show that Infiniti plans to introduce an electric vehicle – one that will be true to the Infiniti brand’s promise of “Inspired Performance”.

President and CEO Carlos Ghosn, took advantage of the 41st Tokyo Motor Show to announce that the group’s luxury Infiniti brand plans to introduce a fully-electric, battery-powered vehicle. According to Ghosn, the concept is to create “a stylish, compact, high performance four-seat luxury Infiniti with zero emissions.” No other details were released on Infiniti’s dedicated EV model, though one possibility is that it could be based on parent company Nissan’s all-electric LEAF that will go on sale in the U.S. in mid-to-late 2010.

These are the first official photos of the new Infiniti M35 Hybrid that will be join the lineup of the recently announced 2011 M luxury performance sedan that is scheduled to go on sale in spring 2010. The Japanese firm’s first-ever production hybrid vehicle is expected to arrive in U.S. dealerships about 12 months later than its gasoline-powered counterparts as a 2012 model. Retaining the regular 2011 M’s rear-wheel drive setup, the M35 Hybrid’s drivetrain combines both mechanical and electrical propulsion systems.

crd-nissan-infiniti-fx-7.jpgCar Research & Development GmbH & Co. KG (CRD) has unveiled a modest styling package for the Infiniti FX crossover.

Quietly introduced at the Frankfurt Motor Show, the FX features an aggressive exterior with gray accents (the front grille, front fender vents, and the roof carrier) and 21-inch turbine-design light-alloy wheels.

Inside, CRD outfitted the cabin with premium leather upholstery, carbon fiber trim, and an Alcantara headliner.
