Infiniti, the first car manufacturer in Europe to introduce a 360 degree parking display, will again move the goal posts – or should that be gate posts – when it adds Moving Object Detection to its Around View Monitor system.

The technology which is currently undergoing final testing in Japan uses both the dashboard’s central screen display and a loud chime to notify the driver of objects moving around the car during parking . And not just at the front and rear either. Anything moving around the side of the car is also detected. It works when starting the car, or when driving at low speeds. This technology helps supplement the driver’s vision in situations such as leaving a parking space or when emerging from a junction with poor side visibility. Or indeed when arriving home after a long day at the office and the family dog is happy to see you.

Reports of an entry-level Infiniti G25 began to circle the internet rumor mill early this year, and the near-luxury sedan has finally surfaced – in China.

Images of the Infiniti G25 have surfaced on the Chinese Web site Autohome. The shots appear to be from the showroom floor of a Chinese dealership, indicating the car is officially available for order.

Although previous reports suggested Infiniti would market the G25 in the United States, we don’t have any confirmation from the Nissan luxury division as of yet. The G25 would be a natural competitor to the BMW 328i and Lexus IS 250.

Infiniti is counting big on its 2011 version of the QX56 to increase sales for the model, which has been suffering along with the rest of the segment as buyers move towards more fuel-efficient and smaller options. However, with more power and more fuel-efficiency, the 2011 QX56 is expected to recapture some of the full-size large SUV market.

“We will have months when we sell 800 to 900 of these,” Ben Poore, Infiniti’s vice president in charge of sales and marketing, told Edmunds.
