Many historic events have taken place in the auto industry recently, and most of the automakers are getting negative press around them. The domestic automakers, however, are getting the lion’s share of it. When the dust from this downturn settles, the automakers that consistently took care of their customers and gave them a reason to maintain confidence and trust in their brands will likely reap the rewards of strong satisfaction and loyalty. This will then culminate in higher sales.

Honda

Honda Recycles for a Cleaner FutureHonda Motor Co., a leader in sustainability and alternative fuel technology, is expanding its recycling of end-of-life products and the recovery of parts.

Since 1998, Honda has sold highly functional recycled parts to customers in Japan and in July 2001 began marketing its reused parts, expanding the operation known today as Honda Recycle Parts.

Through the use of recovered parts and efforts to recycle materials, Honda has achieved an outstanding re-use rate of 84 per cent.

Skoda Auto

Skoda Auto has reported an operating profit of approximately €28 million, despite the worldwide economic crisis.

The Czech Republic’s largest car manufacturer delivered 143,079 cars to customers in First Quarter 2009. Compared to the same period last year, this is a drop of 17.5%, a better result than that of the worldwide auto market, which declined 20.7% during the same period.

Corvette ZR-1

Prince Albert von Thurn und Taxis, offspring of one of Germany’s old and wealthy noble families took delivery these days of a new Corvette ZR-1 in Bonstetten, Switzerland. For successful race driver Prince Albert, the ZR-1, latest and most powerful product of the legendary American sports car brand, is a “must have” car. Corvette dealer Kurt Huber, co-owner of the well-established Corvette Sportcar Center, proudly handed over the keys of the 600plus horsepower vehicle to his famous customer. Prince Albert holds the European Lamborghini Cup, is vice champion of the German ADAC GT Masters 2008 and currently races in the FIA GT European Championship on Lamborghini.

Ferrari

Ferrari 4×4 hybrid system

We don’t know how we missed this one last week but according to a report by AutoCar, Ferrari has made a patent application for a four-wheel-drive hybrid system. The system could be fitted to Ferrari’s future front and rear-engine models.
