bmw_logo2.jpgThough the all-new 5-Series GT hasn’t even been made available to the public yet, the German automaker says it is planning to create a cargo-hauling small brother based on the next-generation 3-Series.

The 335i Gran Turismo would likely complement a standard 3-Series wagon, at least in the automaker’s domestic European market, but it would also offer a more stylish alternative for those who don’t need quite as much space as a full wagon provides.

Britain’s Channel 4 reports that the 335i Gran Turismo would offer a trick two-stage tailgate like the 5-Series GT and it will be available in both diesel and gasoline variants. No M3 Gran Turismo will likely be on offer.

Though a four-cylinder version of the next 3-Series has been announced for North America, the 3-Series Gran Turismo is unconfirmed.
