“Cars” is the animated story of talented upstart Lightning McQueen, a promising racecar on his way to the Piston Cup Championship.

En route, McQueen is sidetracked in the small town of Radiator Springs, where he learns that there’s more to life than just winning.
Giving substance to the movie’s automotive theme are the voices of real-life racers Paul Newman and Richard Petty.
Newman provides the voice of Doc, a 1951 Hudson Hornet with a mysterious past. Not coincidentally, Newman starred in the 1963 Western “Hud”, as the title character.
Newman’s racing career includes a second-place finish at the 1979 24 Hours of Le Mans. At age 70, he became the oldest driver to be part of a winning team at the 1995 24 Hours of Daytona.
The voices of racing celebrities Paul Newman and Richard Petty give life to Doc Hudson (above) and the King (below).
Newman also co-founded Newman/Haas Racing, a CART Championship auto racing team, in 1983.
Richard “The King” Petty gives voice to The King, a 1970 Plymouth Superbird with a long history of winning and little left to prove.
True to life, Petty’s racing career includes seven NASCAR championships and his induction into the International Motorsports Hall of Fame.
Newman and Petty join a cast that includes Owen Wilson, George Carlin, Michael Keaton, and John Ratzenberger.
