Yes, it’s a technology showboat that stands little chance of seeing production. But as with many concept cars, the Nissan Mixim hints at the company’s future. The wrap-around windshield gives it the appearance of a space warrior’s helmet. Indeed, the car is aimed at the youth market. The driver sits in the center with two seats on either side. A fourth seat can be placed behind the driver. Otherwise, a rear hatch reveals a large trunk area. The Mixim’s interface and controls mimic the console of a computer game. The interior feels as if it were designed by Nintendo. The car is powered by two electric motors, front and rear, and uses lithium-ion batteries. This alone will limit its chances of becoming real before, say, 2010. Look for it at the Frankfurt Auto Show.
